John Woodworth (1768-1858) was a Yale University graduate and lawyer who became chancellor of New York. He served as Attorney General of New York (1804-1808), New York assemblymen from Rensselaer County (1803), and state senator (1804-1807). Woodworth was later appointed an associate justice of the Supreme Court of New York (1819-1828).
