Gulian Crommelin Verplanck (1786-1870) was a lawyer from New York. The son of Daniel Crommelin Verplanck, a U.S. Congressman, the younger Verplanck entered politics, winning election to the New York Assembly, (1820-21, 1822, 1823), and later the U.S. House (1825-33). Verplanck served as mayor of New York City (1834) the New York state senate (1838-1841) along with governor of the city hospital of New York (1823-1865) regent and vice chancellor of the state university.
