Introducing Assistant Editor Katie Hatton

The Papers of Martin Van Buren recently welcomed Katelynn Hatton as the project’s new assistant editor.

Hatton received her B.A. in history from American University and her M.A. in public history from the University of South Carolina.

Hatton previously served as an intern at the National Museum of the United States Navy, the Alexandria Archaeology Museum, C-SPAN American History TV, and the South Carolina Confederate Relic Room. She also spent three summers excavating the Roman Fort of Halmyris in Murighiol, Romania. Most recently, Hatton worked as an editorial assistant for the Pinckney Papers Project at the University of South Carolina.

“Katie’s experience at the Pinckney Papers has enabled her to jump right into work on our project,” project director Mark Cheathem said. “We’re fortunate to have someone of her myriad experiences join our staff.”

The Papers of Martin Van Buren project is sponsored by Cumberland University and the National Historical Publications and Records Commission and is produced in partnership with the Center for Digital Editing at the University of Virginia.
