When I had the pleasure of seeing you last I hinted that there was a subject on which I contemplated speaking to you. The enclosed papers explain it. The disinterested solicitude you have evinced for my welfare, & the high respect in which I hold your good opinion, have induced me to communicate to you, what is yet & will continue to be a profound secret to all my most confidential friends with the sole exceptions of Mr John A King & my young friend Mr Butler. It will give me pleasure to learn that you approve the course I have taken. You may send or give me the papers again tomorrow.
