20 June 1815
Dear Sir
There is a Sute Commenced a gainst me for the people—which I think must be for intrest due of Lot No 40 in the Northwest part of the Oneida Reservation and, if so, I conseve by the act passed—Last Winter for the relief of the actual settlers on said tract that I shall have the intrest remitted—for I have been an actual settler for seven years and have made improvements of the said Lot
Sir I shall take it as a great favor if you will informe me by post what must be done and direct it to Sullivan—Madison County and Oblige your
Humble Servnt
John Knowles
