John Forsyth to James Hyman Causten Sr., 9 December 1834

John Forsyth to J[ames] H[yman] Causten [Sr.], 9 December 1834

Department of State,

Washington

Sir:

Your letter of the 8th instant, relative to the claim of the children of Peter Shackerly upon the British Government, has been received.

As you were informed by Mr. Livingston, when Secretary of State, that the President declined to authorize any further representation to the British Government on that subject, I have no suggestions to offer in regard to it.

I am, sir, your obedient servant,

JOHN FORSYTH.
