James A[lexander] Hamilton to MVB, 15 February 1816

My Dear Friend

I am going to Washington to present my mothers petition claiming the compensation for Revolutionary Services which was abandoned by my father. I want you to write a p some letters for me to persons in congress and in Government. I want to leave this on Wednesday next. I write to you freely and ask you without hesitation these favors from you, induced by your former acts of kindness.

Yours &c.

James AHamilton
