Benjamin Franklin Butler to Harriet Allen Butler, 18 March 1820

[Benjamin] F[ranklin] [Butler] to H[arriet] [Allen] Butler, 18 March 1820

Mr. <Steer> has arrived this moment (6 oclock P.M.) I had actually engaged & paid for my seat, but must now remain until I have finished my business with him. Need I say that it will give me great very great pain to disappoint you? I can not help it, dear Harriet, I assure you. I have no doubt that I shall be ready to leave by Monday afternoon if there is any conveyance, but I may possibly be detained for the Wednesdays stage.

Dearest Harriet, your

own

F.

Ask Mr. Hitchcock to borrow money enough to keep along in the same manner as when I left.
