MVB to [Judith] Rives, 12 March 1834

my dear friend

Will you believe it? I have had the enclosed letter from your friend Mrs Van Rensselaer two days in my possession with out having a moments time to <illegible> forward it. It will give me much pleasure to send her your answer, as it will afford an opportunity to be remembered by two friends whom so sincerely esteem. Tell Mr. Rives that the Senate Chamber is at least ten times hotter than it was when he was there, far above blood heat. I envy him his temporary escape.

In great haste

Very truly yours
