The news I sent you from N. Carolina is confirmed & the majority is very respectable. I have this moment recd the enclosed from Mr Woodbury. From Missouri & Illinois has been no apprehension although our amounts are very limited. Remember me kindly to old friends & believe me to be

P.S. The President has been dangerously sick & is still confined to his bed. The vote in Tennessee is going much better than anticipated very much to his gratification a serious effort there would have been successful.
