I have the honor to transmit to you the enclosed proceedings of a meeting of the Democratic Republicans of the Fourth Ward of the City of New York, in relation to the recharter of the present Bank of the United States and the restoration of the Deposits. The meeting was composed of many of your personal Friends and of those who in connection with yourself, and devoted to the support of the Republican Institutions of our Country, and I cannot but flatter myself that the spirit of their proceedings will find acceptance in your estimation. Nor can I forego this opportunity of tendering to you, individually, my congratulations on the beneficial and auspicious tendency of the late measures of the government to which they refer.
