E[lias] K[ent] Kane to MVB, 20 February 1829

Dr Sir

Learning, that I may have been mistaken in my letter of Yesterday in assigning to Mr Calhoun an agency in the organization of the cabinet I write again to say, that in a conversation commenced by Mr Hayne of SC last evening, that gentleman condemned the arrangement in the most unqualified terms Saving however in all respects Your name from the condemnation. You know better what value to place on this occurrence than I do

Yr friend

E K Kane
