My dear Sir
If Mr Wright looses his election I fear our people will push him at once into the Comptrollers office if that should become vacant. This ought not to be done. His part is a different & a higher one & ^to^ that ^he^ will go of course in the event I allude to. I wish you would keep the matter in your mind. It is said that the law relative to Commissioners & notaries requires that the new appointments should be made on the first day of Jany. & that from that day their offices become vacant. This would in all respects be inconsistent & detrimental to the public service. If it so I wish you would get the law amended.
Yours truly
M.V.Buren
