MVB to [Azariah Cutting Flagg], 21 February 1828

My dear Sir

I hope our friends will not be so foolish as to trust Peter. No honest intelligent man can certainly hope for his fidelity. So far from his certifying that he was in favour of Jackson being an inducement with me to vote for him I would rather do it if I would certify that he would never act with us again. I know him from top to bottom & know there are no sound timbers in wreck. Tell Marcy I have sent his letter to Gen Jackson & will write soon

Yours truly
