On board the Wilmington

Steam Boat

My dear Sir,

I parted with Rochester yesterday. Before I saw him he had authorized Mr Bowne (who is at Philadelphia) to make for him any publication upon the subject of the Senator election that he might at any time he think necessary. He told me that he would instantly have authorized a publication upon the subject had he not supposed that to ^do^ so would overcome too great a degree of presumption by supposing that he would be supported for that place. He has labored extremely well in all things.

In haste yours

Sincerely

M.V.Buren
