John Vernon Henry

John Vernon Henry (1767-1829) was a Federalist lawyer and politician. He was a member of the New York State Assembly representing Albany County from 1800 to 1802 and was the New York State Comptroller from 1800 to 1801. He also served as a delegate to the 1801 New York state constitutional convention. Henry and MVB worked both together and against one another in a number of legal cases in the NY legal circuits throughout the 1810s and early 1820s. Notably, Henry and MVB were co-counsels in the very lucrative suit of Troup v. Wood and Sherwood, which they won for their client Henry Platner in 1819.
