Nicholas Fish

Nicholas Fish (1758-1833) attended the College of New Jersey and studied law, before entering the American Army in 1776. Fish served as Adjutant General of New York until 1793, supervisor of the revenue under George Washington in 1794, and Alderman of New York City's Ninth Ward until 1817. He was the father of Hamilton Fish who served as Secretary of State under Ulysses S. Grant.
